Solar Commission Report

A new report has been launched analysing the opportunities for UK-based innovation in the solar energy sector.  https://www.regen.co.uk/publications/the-solar-commission/.   Prof. Neil Greenham was a member of the Solar Commission that produced the report, and he introduced the findings at a reception held on 9 July at the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Teverson.  Prof. Greenham comments: “This report makes a positive and evidence-based case for how the UK can lead innovation in the expanding solar energy sector.  That includes supporting our world-leading research on new photovoltaic materials.  It’s great that silicon solar cells are already competitive for energy generation in the UK, but there’s a huge opportunity for new materials to drive down the cost of solar energy by improving cell efficiency, and to take solar into new areas of application.”
