Portrait of Adam Brown holding his award

Congratulations to Adam Brown who was highly commended in the Champion of the Year category of the University's Apprenticeships Awards 2023. This award is a celebration and recognition of those who champion apprenticeships with enthusiasm.

Adam started his career as a mechanical engineer apprentice at the Cavendish in 2007. He has since held various roles across the University, working his way up to a senior management level before recently returning to the Department as Head of Laboratories.

Adam is currently working on writing a new apprenticeship scheme for the Department, and is mentoring two lab technician apprentices, Oliwia Zawadzka and Luke Cavill (pictured below with Adam). He will be hiring two new lab technician apprentices in September.

Commenting on his award, Adam said:

“Throughout my journey, I have seen first-hand the incredible value that apprenticeships can bring to both individuals and organisations, and I am deeply honoured to receive this commendation for the Apprenticeship Champion of the Year Award.

“I have always been committed to promoting, supporting, and developing apprenticeships in every way possible. By investing in the personal and professional development of our apprentices. I hope to inspire them to reach their full potential and to make meaningful contributions to our organisation.”
