Some of the activities in the Department involve substantive collaborations with other Departments and/or span the interests of number of Groups in the Department. The Programmes below all involve collaborative research and teaching, which help expand the research of the Department into new areas in which Physics can make substantive innovative contributions.
CORDE is the national facility for physics. Supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UKRI), it provides access to our equipment, resources and knowledge base to university and industry researchers across the UK.
The Centre for Scientific Computing runs academic programmes and short courses for Continuous Professional Development (CPD). It encompasses the Laboratory for Scientific Computing, which runs groundbreaking research and industry-academia programmes with real-world impact.
The Physics of Medicine (PoM) building is a dynamic hub of research at the intersection of biology and medicine, and offers access to the extensive research facilities to external users.
Our workshop team is specialised in full product design, development and manufacturing of precision scientific equipment’s for physics research requirements, for the benefit of the Department, other Universities and industry.
