Annual Prizewinners’ Dinner 2025

27 October 2025

The Cavendish Laboratory’s Annual Prizewinner’s Dinner took place on 24 October 2025. Undergraduate Prize Winners, alongside Cavendish academics, celebrated their achievements and enjoyed a formal dinner at the Cavendish Café of the Ray Dolby Centre. This was the first time the annual event was hosted in the Cavendish Laboratory’s new home – the Ray Dolby Centre, which opened earlier this year.

The dinner was hosted by Professor Ulrich Schneider, Director of Undergraduate Education, and had two special guests in attendance: Professor Joseph Thywissen (Department of Physics, University of Toronto) – currently on sabbatical at the Cavendish, hosted by Professor Zoran Hadzibabic – and Dr Lucas Le Nagard, a fellow of the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851. Both guests were warmly welcomed by Professor Schneider in his after-dinner speech.

The evening concluded with Professor Schneider presenting prize certificates to the winners. These awards recognise outstanding achievement in physics across all undergraduate years, from excellence in theory, experiment, and computation to exceptional research reviews and overall academic performance.
