The Cavendish Laboratory’s Annual Prizewinner’s Dinner took place on 25 October 2024. Undergraduate Prize Winners, alongside Cavendish academics, celebrated their achievements and enjoyed a formal dinner at the Cloister Court of Jesus College.

The evening was hosted by Professor Mete Atatüre, Head of the Cavendish Laboratory. He opened the dinner by congratulating the special guests in attendance. “It is a privilege to celebrate the collective accomplishments that make the Cavendish Laboratory a leader in scientific research. Every achievement is a testament to our commitment to advancing science,” said Prof. Atatüre.

Among the special guests were Professors Paul Dastoor and Dan Frisbie, recently awarded the Royal Society Wolfson Visiting Professorships, Professor Lisa Jardine-Wright, Teaching Professor and Director of Isaac Physics, and Dr Boris Bolliet and Dr Sven Krippendorf, who have joined as Assistant Teaching Professors for the MPhil in Data Intensive Science. Dr Harry Cliff, Public Physicist for the Cavendish and STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowship, was also in attendance.

Professor Atatüre acknowledged the teaching support staff, remarking, “Behind every achievement, there is vital support from our teaching office and administrative teams. Their efforts ensure our students and faculty can thrive, making such events possible.”

The evening concluded with Professor Atatüre presenting prize certificates to the winners. It was a night of celebration and recognition of promising future scientists. Below are more details of the current students and recent graduates who won the awards –
