Nick Bell and Ulrich Keyser win the 2016 Helmholtz Prize

The identification and quantification of proteins in complex mixtures using nanopore sensing with high specificity was published by Nicholas Bell and Ulrich Keyser in a recent article in Nature Nanotechnology (http://www.nature.com/nnano/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nnano.2016.50.html) . Their combination of DNA nanotechnology with nanopore based detection of single molecules allowed for the multiplexed identification of antibodies. Drs Bell and Keyser received for this ground-breaking work the Helmholtz Price. The 'Helmholtz Preis' is awarded by the Physikalisch-Technische-Bundesanstalt and Helmholtz Fond and is one of the most important honours for research in applied metrology.
