Part IB Physics B Written papers

The IB Physics B examination consists of two three-hour papers. Both papers contain questions on Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, and Dynamics & Fluids. The Part IB syllabus was extensively changed at the start of the 2003-2004 academic year, and again for the 2007-8 academic year: examination papers from earlier years will not correspond to the current IB course.

Specific information about the examination is given in notices put up on the Part IB examination noticeboard outside the Part IB laboratory. The practicals are continuously assessed and overall count 25% towards the IB Physics B examination, with about half of the 25% coming from a formal report on one of the experiments; full details are in the class manual and additional help is given in the booklet Keeping Laboratory Notes and Writing Formal Reports.

An official statement will appear shortly in The Reporter. For the most recent published version, see the Form and Conduct Notice (about a page down). The main difference is that Paper 2A has been abolished; Paper 2B becomes simply Paper 2.
