Part IB Physics A Written papers

The IB Physics A examination consists of two three-hour papers, the first on the Quantum Physics and the Experimental Methods material and the second, on the Oscillations, Waves and Optics and the Condensed Matter Physics material. The Part IB syllabus was extensively changed at the start of the 2003-2004 academic year, and again for the 2007-8 academic year: examination papers from earlier years will not correspond to the current IB course.

The practicals are continuously assessed and overall count 25% towards the IB Physics examination, with about half of the 25% coming from a formal report on one of the experiments; full details are given in the class manual and additional help is given in the booklet Keeping Laboratory Notes and Writing Formal Reports.

For an official statement, see the Form and Conduct Notice (scroll down for the Physics entry).
