UCS Interruptions

DS-Web (personal web pages) - unplanned outage

Some users will have been affected by an unplanned outage to DS-Web (personal web pages) earlier today. The service was unavailable from 13:44 until 14:20 due to an ESX configuration error. We regret any inconvenience caused.

Wed 12 June, 17.30 - 19.00: MCS remote Linux service and the DS-Filestore SFTP service unavailable

The MCS remote Linux service and the DS-Filestore SFTP service will be unavailable between 17.30 - 19.00 on Wed 12 June for software updates.

July 8th 07:00-09:00 - System work affecting Janet connection - outage expected

During the Janet vulnerable period 07:00 - 09:00 on Monday July 8th the University's connection to Janet and the Internet will be disrupted for a time as the CUDN and EastERN (East of England Education and Research Network) routers are moved. For institutions directly connected to the CUDN, including Colleges, University departments and MRC Units, we hope that the disconnection will only be in the order of 15 minutes. For CUP and Cambridge Assessment the disconnection time will depend on whether the connection is via the CUDN or the organisation's other connection. Where the connection via the CUDN is being used, the outage will be as above. The IT support staff at both organisations will be able to advise.

Tue 11 Jun, 17.30 - 17.45: Jackdaw Services liable to interruption

Jackdaw Database Services (including IP registration database) will be interrupted for about 10 minutes at 17:30 on Tuesday 11th June for a kernel patch.

The CTA Network and the connection to the UCS will be down after 16.00 Wed 21st for essenital maintenance.

Wed 7 Oct, 10.00 - : Cavendish VOIP and Network Issues

Problems with voice and data network. Telecomms office have been informed.

Thu 10 Sep, 08.00 - 09.00: BSS and HEP Separation

Shortly after 8am tomorrow, BSS and HEP will move from the Cavendish network to their own independent networks. This shouldn\'t affect the rest of the Cavendish network in any way, but there\'s a small possibility that some computers will end up on the wrong network.
