Electronics Development Section / Electronics Workshop
Who and where are we?
The electronics development section provides a wide range of electronics engineering services to research groups in the department of Physics. Because of their particular technical requirements, the High Energy Physics and Astrophysics groups both have their own electronics support staff. Other groups can call upon the central electronics development section (i.e. us!) for assistance.
The section is well equipped with a wide range of general purpose and specialised test equipment, including:
- Sampling oscilloscopes up to 2GSa/s/500MHz
- Spectrum analyser: 0-100kHz, noise floor VSD ~1nV/√Hz
- Spectrum analyser 10kHz-150MHz with a noise floor VSD about-150dBm
- 6½ Digit Multimeter
Plus many other items of test equipment
We also have an NC drilling machine for PCBs that is linked to our computer network and have the necessary wet chemistry facilities to make double sided PCBs. Note, however, that sadly we do not have plated through hole facilities.
