Biography:
After a Ph.D. in the Cavendish HEP group working on bubble chamber experiments, followed by several other bubble chamber experiments, I then worked on the UA5 experiment at the CERN SPS collider. For around 20 years I worked on the OPAL experiment at LEP, working on QCD and W-boson physics, and serving variously as software and physics coordinator.
Research Interests:
My current research is mainly concerned with plans for experiments at a future e+e- Linear Collider. In particular the CALICE collaboration is carrying out a broad R&D programme aimed at prototyping designs for highly granular calorimeters which are optimised for jet energy reconstruction. I am currently the overall analysis coordinator for CALICE.
