Biography:
I study the physics of star formation, primarily through observational studies of molecular gas clouds at millimetre and submillimetre wavelengths. This work focuses on the physical structure of molecular clouds, the nature of gravitational collapse, disk formation and the generation of molecular outflows from protostars. Since 2000, I have been the UK's project Scientist for ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimetre Array project, and play an active role in this international project. In particular, I work on aspects of atmospheric phase correction for ALMA using the water vapour radiometer technique.
Research Interests:
Spectral line and continuum studies of star forming regions, at radio, millimetre and infrared wavelengths; physical processes in protostellar outflow sources; image reconstruction algorithms, with particular application to millimetre-wave observations.
