Biography:

Dr Lester is an experimental high-energy particle physicist and a Bye-Fellow of Peterhouse. His main research interest concerns the search for new phyiscs at small scales - for example particles, symmetries, forces and extra space-time dimensions which are not yet part of the "Standard Model" of particle physics.

Research Interests:

Most of my work and research revolves around the ATLAS Experiment being built in Geveva at CERN, the European Centre for Particle Physics. In relation to ATLAS, I work in two main areas: (1) the construction of ATLAS's Semiconductor Tracker (SCT), and (2) developing analysis techniques which will allow us to work out whether supersymmetric particles exist and were produced just after the Big Bang. I am also interested in (particularly trackless) ring finding in the Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detector of LHCb - another CERN, experiment.
