Plastic Logic unveils its first product

Plastic Logic has unveiled its first product, QUE (pronounced "Q"), the world's first electronic reader for business users, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. More than an electronic Reader, QUE is designed specifically to provide a premium reading experience and access to content anywhere anytime, while simplifying the multi-faceted lifestyle of business professionals -and to literally lighten their workload. The QUET is the size of a pad of paper, about 1/3 inch thick, weighs only about 17 ounces owing to the thin, light plastic display on which it is based, and features a crisp large touchscreen, intuitive user interface and powerful tools.

Plastic Logic was founded in 2000 as a spin-off company by Prof. Henning Sirringhaus and Prof. Sir Richard Friend to commercialize research in the Optoelectronics Group of the Cavendish Laboratory on plastic transistors made from conjugated polymer semiconductors. Plastic Logic has developed this technology in its laboratories in Cambridge for making lightweight, unbreakable, flexible displays. The unique plastic displays are manufactured in Plastic Logic's world-first commercial scale plastic electronics manufacturing facility in Dresden, Germany. Combined with E Ink VizplexR technology, they produce an outstanding reading experience that looks and reads just like paper even in direct sunlight.
