Royal Society URF Dr Suchitra Sebastian has been awarded a prestigious 5 year Starting Grant by the European Research Council (ERC) for her research project titled UNCONVENTIONAL SUPERCONDUCTIVITY FROM A MOTT INSULATING PARENT MATERIAL'.

The ERC was created in 2007 by the European Union to enable the most promising scientists to develop their best ideas at the frontiers of knowledge. It aims to stimulate scientific excellence by encouraging competition for funding between the very best, creative researchers. Only 11% of the 5000 applications for ERC Starting Grants (http://erc.europa.eu/starting-grants ) of up to €2 million per project were selected in 2012.
