The Teaching Laboratory of the 21st Century - The Space to Discover

Teaching
Training in the use of experimental physics tools and methods is central to the undergraduate physics programme

Teaching laboratories are a core element of a science education, and the Cavendish has a proud reputation to maintain as a premier experimental physics laboratory, sustained by excellence in both research and teaching. Today there is an opportunity not only to bring our teaching laboratories up to a new standard of excellence for learning, but also to recreate them as cutting-edge, dual-use spaces which will serve conferences, conventions, physics teacher training, and outreach. The Cavendish has developed a new concept of multi-use physics practical laboratories that enable students to practice their skills in contemporary physics experiments and then, with optimum economy of time and resources, change the function of the laboratories and enable this wide range of alternative uses.
