The 800th Anniversary Campaign

Cambridge is one of the world's great universities. It provides outstanding education for over 18,000 students, drawn from all corners of the globe, and its 5,000 academic staff produce world-class research that shapes, and frequently transforms, the way the world works and thinks.

To mark its 800th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2009, the University aims to build on the long history of enlightened benefaction at Cambridge by raising a £1 billion to help to secure this tradition of excellence for the future.

The University has identified some of the key investment priorities at the Cavendish, several of which are described below. These cover a wide range of vital activities, and include flagship projects within the 'Freedom to discover' category that will not only be transformative in themselves, but will also act as catalysts for the long-term growth described in The Future at the Cavendish.
