Nashville
The Sixteenth Biennial International Conference of the APS Topical Group on Shock Compression of Condensed Matter will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee, from June 28th through July 3rd, 2009. The purpose of this conference, as with earlier conferences in this series, will be to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and technical information for scientists and engineers studying the physics, chemistry, mechanics, and materials science of condensed matter at high dynamic pressures and compressions. In addition to the oral and poster presentations, a refereed Proceedings will archive the science presented at this conference as with the previous conferences in this series.

Some clarification has been added to the hotel booking page. The effective Conference room rate is $146.25 (before tax); this reflects a subsidy from the Topical Group of $10.75 off of the rate of $157 that appears on the Passkey site. This will be deducted from your room rate at checkout. The subsidy is chosen to give a rate of GSA per diem plus 25%, which is acceptable for the Conference hotel for most Federally funded travel. Also, please do not include children 12 and under in your count of people in your room.13th February 2009
