bdj50: Conference in Cambridge to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Publication of Brian Josephson’s Seminal Work, 23rd June 2012

June 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the publication of our colleague Brian Josephson's famous paper: "Possible new effects in superconductive tunnelling," Physics Letters 1, 251 (1962). His prediction of the tunneling of superconducting Cooper pairs, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1973, has led to many important applications in quantum-mechanical circuits, such as SQUIDs, superconducting qubits and RSFQ digital electronics.

We plan to mark this anniversary with a one-day meeting here in Cambridge on Saturday 23rd June 2012, with invited speakers covering the past, present and future of Josephson physics. The meeting will take place in Brian's own college, Trinity. On the day before the meeting, Brian will be giving a talk on his current interests, details here.
